How ready-made cereal breakfasts came to be

How ready-made cereal breakfasts came to be

Corn flakes were created thanks to the Americans – brothers John and William Kellogg, who came up with the idea of making healthy and wholesome food from cereals back in 1885.

According to the legend, the idea of crispy flakes just came to John in a dream, and he decided to turn his dream into a business idea. But it took years to bring it to fruition. The business did not progress quickly, because no one wanted to buy hard and tasteless flakes.

After experimenting for several years, the brothers came up with the idea of soaking grains in malt and passing them through a press – approximately the same technology remains to this day. Competitors got interested in the success of the brothers, and other companies began to produce similar flakes.

Later, William invented a new method – adding sugar to the flakes. However, this idea was not to the liking of John, who was a physician by education. After arguing for some time, in the end, the brothers concluded a “truce”, and the company’s sales went up.

Americans are devoted fans of ready-made breakfasts. Every second of them starts their breakfast with a plate of nutritious cereal with milk or yogurt.

Ukrainians also like such an easy and healthy start to the morning, because ready-made breakfasts are quick, tasty and nutritious!
