Every year, Europe consumes about 1 million tons of high-oleic palm oil, which is used in the production of bakery products, confectionery, baby food, snacks, etc. Its main consumers are France, Germany and the United Kingdom, but the demand in Asian countries is also increasing.

Let’s think, for instance, of the use of high-oleic palm oil in ready-made baby formulas, close to breast milk. After all, such oil is rich in saturated fatty acids, which perform vital functions in a child’s body (forming the brain, nervous system, energy metabolism).

Of all vegetable oils, high-oleic palm oil contains the greatest amount of saturated palmitic acid, which makes up more than 20% of all fats in breast milk. And this is one of the main arguments for its use in baby formulas.

A number of studies undertaken by pediatricians once again confirm the fact that high-oleic palm oil is the only natural plant ingredient that provides a quantitative content of palmitic acid in baby formulas close to breast milk. Thus, if the use of such oil is widespread in the production of food for the youngest, its safety for other products is also obvious.
